The inline-four engine or straight-four engine is an internal combustion engine with all four cylinders mounted in a straight line, or plane along the crankcase. The four pistons rotate the common crankshaft
This type of engine is very widely used as it has compact build and economical to run but it has its disadvantages mostly being as it runs the pistons move in pairs up and down causing an imbalance in the rotating motion of the shaft hence causing vibrations which in small engines is tolerable but excess in huge engines esp at high speeds.Much of this is controlled using engine mounting with rubber to dampen the effects and also the use of Balance shafts:This are small weighted  shafts driven by the main shaft turning at high speeds in opposite directions to correct the vibrations,they are usually connected by a chain.
The Number of cylinders that an engine contains is an important factor in overall engine performance of the engine hence the  Four cylinder is not the  champion in speed but offers advantages in its low consumption and low emission and with the advances in design a comfortable ride

Group, a subsidiary of Tata Motors of India The land rovers has been in production since 1948,

The Defender is available in both 90 and 110 wheelbases, offering functionality with secure load carrying capability
Defender’s 2.2 litre diesel engine produces an impressive 360Nm of torque. With 90 percent of peak power constantly on tap from as low as 2,200rpm to over 4,350rpm, it provides maximum muscle for tough working environments.

In keeping with the modern advances in fuel and engine technologies, a unique engine tune has been developed which allows it to tolerate the variable quality, high-sulphur fuels to be found across some emerging markets*. To cope with the sort of difficult progress that many operations demand, when the engine is working hard at low speed, around 1,000rpm, Land Rover’s innovative Anti-Stall device intelligently adjusts the fuel required to help keep everything running smoothly.
The Defender’ is a six-speed manual transmission. Specially developed for heavy-duty applications, it is light, strong and also provides smooth on-road performance and slick gear changes. it also comes with a light weight Aluminum body helping it improve on the fuel consumption
*Doors and Bonnets are made from corrosion resistant steel
For maximum control both on and off-road, Defender is available with ABS (excluding 130 models). Detecting any significant difference between wheel speeds during heavy braking, this optional system helps maintain continued progress by automatically reducing brake force to the appropriate wheel. Electronic Traction Control is included in this option.

The Range Rover Evoque

The Range Rover Evoque or "Baby Range" as nicknamed is a compact suv from long experienced off road vehicle manufacturers Land Rover.This urbanite designed eye catching suv started production in 2011 and comes in option of either 3/5 door.
Its one of the vehicles that comes with most modern electronics available for cars in the market from
Terrain response system,intelligent lighting,electric foldable seats among others. Its  body is boldly designed with the roof appearing to be shorter compared to the body wheel ratio,this is a design concept  that has been been recently catching up with recent suv manufacturers
Part of its main selling point is its 4 cylinder engine which is the first in the Range Rover family coming both as a 2Litre Petrol version and 2.2 Diesel version, all having  a six speed transmission.This makes the compact baby range a remarkable fuel saver in its class.

Subaru Legacy B4

Launched in 1998 it has under gone various updates and tweets.
It was introduced with a DOHC engine 2.0 Lt turbo but can be found with engines offering up to 3.0lt.
Its main selling is in its engine Structure(Box Four Design).
This is a design where pistons lie horizontally to the Shaft,Two on each side.This enables the B4 to have a low Engine gravity offering a more stable Cornering,Well balanced vehicle.
It comes Full Time 4wd,5 Speed gear Box.

Volvo S80

Volvo S80 is a Big,impressive salon,but quite conservative on its design as a high end Executive car.It features a minimalist ,clean interior and with its impressive size lots of space holding capacities.The saloon is power by a variant of V6 and V8  engines both diesel and petrol
It may cost less than other high end saloons But it boasts of an Excellent Crash test scores,meaning riding in this machine should have in the least worried about your safety

The Chrysler 300c

This high end American Car is produced by the american company Chrsler,It production started in 2004 and has continued amid couple of upgrades and tweeks.It comes with a 3.6lt V6 Engine which can run on 4 pistons when less power is needed and all 6 pistons when more is required,this advance in technology is enabled through the Multi-displacement System,It is also a rear wheel driven car and shares same suspensions,Front seats,wring with mercedes E class and the C class.Its also has less emisson given its structure of having 2 sparkplug per cylinder .

Audi A4

Audi joins the pack of the Executive compact car with some advantages over its rivals....This car was launched in 1994 by Audi a subsidiary of Vw and has undergone some cople of face lifts while maintaining the essentials that make it competitive.
